Corowa
The Corowa Oil Field is located offshore Western Australia in Commonwealth Waters, approximately 60km North East of Exmouth and 60km West of Onslow (21o 28’59.4” S, 114o 33’26.2” E). The Corowa Oil Field development project will involve the mobilisation of oil field equipment into the region to drill the oil wells, install the oil production facilities and support the project during the production phase. The initial drilling and installation phase will take approximately 6 months, followed by between 2 to 4.5 years of production and 3-6 months of decommissioning and abandonment. The production facilities are designed to be relocatable, and will be removed and relocated to another oil field at completion of the project. The earliest commencement of works offshore will be late 2021.
KATO, as the proponent of a new offshore petroleum project in Commonwealth waters, has submitted the Corowa Development OPP to the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environment Management Authority (NOPSEMA), in accordance with the regulations administered by NOPSEMA under the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2006.
We invite public comment. The full OPP is available for public comment on NOPSEMA’s website: https://www.nopsema.gov.au/environmental-management/offshore-project-proposals/offshore-project-proposals-public-comment/
The OPP will be open for public comment for 8 weeks, closing on 23 April 2020.
